Another Oldie but Goodie: CoverGirl City Lights

Today I have another oldie for you. It's Cover Girl's Boundless Color - City Lights 430. I found this beauty in a bargain bin in my local store for .99 cents! The store was Pamida, but it has since went out of business. I'm so glad I grabbed this (& 4 others) before the store went out of business.

This is considered a topcoat which is sheer in 1 coat, but opaque in 3 coats.
This polish is packed with holo glitter.  You can see the holo in very low light & in very bright light. Here is a blurred shot so you can see what this looks like once the sun hits it. It is truly drool worthy lol.

My best polishes have popped out of bargain bins or dollar stores. My favorite kind of polishes!

 Hope you guys like it.

For those of you that follow my blog, you may be asking yourself what happened on my first day of my new job, and may be wondering why I have such a flashy polish on when I was so worried initially. It all was fine. My first day was awesome. My Boss had LONG bright red nails, and all the girls had polish on (mostly on toes) of all colors. It seems no polish is off limits - woohoo! I may still hesitate on blacks, but I'm sure I will work it in somewhere lol.

Hope you guys have a happy Wednesday.

Rescue Beauty Lounge - Bikini Bottom

Today I have an oldie but goodie polish from Rescue Beauty Lounge - Bikini Bottom!

I needed something very light and classy looking because today is my first day at my new job - yippee! I wasn't really sure what to do nail wise. I have only went for an interview (one visit to the location), and it was hard for me to decipher if the girls had there nails painted or not. It is a bank and I don't think they have polish rules, but I wasn't positive. I'm sure I have always seen bank tellers with polished fingers - am I right?

I originally wanted to do a nude, but I just couldn't do it lol. I'm not a fan of light colors at all so going nude was too crazy for me (LOL). I picked this instead, a very very pale blue. My manager is a female and she is very sweet and nice and I figure today I will ask her if polish is an issue and what rules they do have about it. Let's hope she doesn't say no polish - I WOULD DIE haha. I don't think this is the case, because your hands are very visual at a bank and no polish would look blah (at least to me).  We will see.

Here is Bikini Bottom.

This polish is extremely sheer and there was an obvious VNL on the first and second coats. I ended up with 4 coats to make it opaque. I know four coats sounds extreme, but this polish is so thin and light that 4 coats does not feel thick. It feels like most 2 and 3 coaters I usually where.

I actually LOVE how it came out. I bet I could have used less coats if I had started with a coat of white as a base first, I just didn't think of that til it was too late. I had heard a lot of negative things about this polish being too sheer, but with 4 coats I love it and it really is not thick at all!

What do you guys think.

Thanks for visiting and wish me luck lol!

Indie Spotlight: Candy Lacquer (w/Milani Key West)

Today I'm wearing a mani that I absolutely LOVE!  The base color is Milani Key West and then I added an Indie Polish Glitter Topcoat made by Candy Lacquer called High Tide. It's glitter in a clear coat so it can be applied over all types of colors.  This combination is mermaid nails made easy :) Candy Lacquer polishes can be purchased HERE at Etsy. Currently the shop is empty, but you can be notified via email when the store is restocked.

I really love how this came out. It's late night and I was a little bit in a rush doing this mani, but I still love the results.

This is my first Candy Lacquer Polish and it will not be my last lol. I thought this would be extremely gritty and bumpy, but with one coat of SV it is smooth as glass. (**please note: these picture were all prior to applying the SV topcoat - which was an after thought to smooth things out)

Do you guys like?  I LOVE! Candy Lacquer has now been added to my favorite list!

This is my second post today so make sure you scroll down and check out my facial masks/scrubs series.

Freeman - #1 Enzyme Mask Pinnapple

I'm back with a Freeman Series of face scrubs and masks.  This series will be similar to my Montagne Jeunesse Masks Series. I will have both products going at the same time, and alternate between the two companies. I will add these as FREEMAN MASKS and the others as MONTAGNE JEUNESSE MASKS in my LABELS section in the bottom left sidebar so you can separate the two companies easily
.
This week I'm using FREEMAN: Enzyme Mask Pineapple

I purchased a few of the Freeman Masks and I will review them all in the next several weeks.  The packaging on these is not as clever as the Montagne Jeunesse Masks, but they are just as eye catching to me.

The mask I am reviewing today is not a mud mask, but an enzyme scrub. The consistency on this is very different than a mud mask. Though it is smooth, it has a gentle exfoliating property to it. It's very minimal and you really have to roll this around between your fingers to feel the small micro scrubbing beads in this. It's a gentle exfoliator versus a smooth mud mask.

The instructions are to apply it to your face for 10 minutes, allow it to dry and then rinse.  This is transparent once you apply it to your face, and it has a very nice cool sensation when you first apply. As this drys on your face it does not tighten at all like a mud mask. It's feels very flexible on the face and transparent.

The smell on this one is fabulous. I smelled both pineapples and bananas, and it was very 'tropical smelling' to me. I felt like I was drinking a Pina Colada getting lost on a beach somewhere lol. If you are looking for a nice escape - this is it!
Once I rinsed it off my face, it felt soooooooo GOOD. My skin was very smooth and soft feeling. The smell lingered for a bit so you want to keep that in mind if you are sensitive to smells.

I am just as impressed with this mask as I was the Montagne Jeunesse Mask I reviewed last week. This line is also inexpensive at about $1.50-$1.99 per mask. I really didn't have high expectations, and now I have a different respect for these types of masks.

Here are past masks in the Montagne Jeunesse Series that are posted as of today:

I would love to hear what you guys think on either of these products. Do you love them? Hate them? Leave your comments below.

Thanks for visiting today!

Montagne Jeunesse Masks Series - #1 Chocolate Masque

Today I decided to start a new series of reviews for the travel size mud masks & face treatments from Montagne Jeunesse

(logo from Montagne Jeunesse)

I know we have all seen these on the end caps at Wal-Mart and CVS.  The packaging is so inviting looking, so I decided to give them a try. I am addicted to mud masks of all kinds and I love the benefits they provide.

Check out the LABELS section in the sidebar to see all the reviews as I add them.

First mask I have tried is: Chocolate Masque (Mud Mask)
The label says this mask is for normal to dry skin and your T-Zone area, for deep pore cleansing. This description was perfect for my skin tone.  It states the mask helps to unclog pores by drawing out impurities. It also contains Dead Sea Salt to assist in skin healing, and Cocoa and Shea butters for moisturizing.  Please make sure to see all the ingredients in case you are allergic to something.

The consistency is typical mud mask, very smooth and slightly thick. It felt like mouse almost, but thicker. It had a very strange feel, but fun and different at the same time. The first thing I noticed when I opened the package was the strong chocolate smell that hit my nose. It reminded me of raw brownie mix, before baking. It was so enjoyable and downright yummy smelling. I like to apply my masks thin so I can definitely get a second use out of this package. The cost varies by store, but usually they run between $1.39 - $1.99 here in the US.

As this mask dries on your face, it feels like a typical mud mask,  hardening and getting 'tight', but not too tight. The directions say you should wash your face with warm water first, (which opens pores), and then apply and let dry 10-15 minutes before rinsing and patting dry.

It rinsed off easily, but it was a bit messy. The water that drips off your face into your sink is dark brown. BE VERY CAREFUL when rinsing off. I would not suggest wearing a white top when using this mask. I waited 15 minutes as directed, and rinsed. The first thing I noticed, was my skin felt REALLY soft. My skin is usually very dry and crazy after a mask usually, and that was not the case with this mask. I can honestly say my face was softer and fresher feeling than any other mask I have tried to date. It's been several hours since I used the mask, and I'm having trouble not touching my face lol. Even though this was a messy mask after I rinsed it did not stain my skin or my towel, and that was a plus.

Overall, I loved this mask and I will be using it again. I can deal with the messiness of if, becasue the benefits out way that 10 fold. I didn't expect much of this mask because of the inexpensive price tag, but I was very impressed!!!

I'm now really excited to test the others masks I have purchased. These masks are intended for once a week use, so other reviews will be posted weekly. It is not recommended to do them more often than weekly. If you over mask you can really irritate and harm your skin.

Thanks for visiting, and if you have used these masks I would love to hear your experiences with them.

Pretty In Pink

Today I have a fun one. This is OPI: Pink Me I'm Good. This was a Limited Edition OPI that was sold at Ulta for Valentine's Day in 2010. I really wanted this when it came out, my closest Ulta is a 1 & 1/2 hour drive (each way), and I remember taking the drive just for this polish way back when.

I'm still on vacation, and this one did give me some trouble with application. It was very very thick, and I really needed to have thinner for this. I was on my way out the door for dinner when I was applying it, so by the time I realized I needed thinner it was too late lol. This is one of the those polishes, for me, that does need thinner in between uses.

I made due and I'm really happy how it came out. This is 3 coats. I did very little clean up. I thought being on vacation I would have time for being more picky, and that is just not the case. There is less time LOL.

I used Seche UV and my UV light to dry this in a bout 10 minutes so I can run out the door. It still looks great and I'm having trouble wanting to change this one.

It is a Pink Jelly with gold glitter, and flashes colors of orange/gold to me when in bright light. It is GORGEOUS to say the least. It was so worth the drive for this.

Hope you guys like it! Happy Friday.

Christmas in June :)

Today I want to show you the nail polish I selected to start off my Vacation! I had this cute sailor top that was red and white striped and wanted to match to that. I decided on OPI Dear Santa.

This is a really pretty red with gold glitter, but with a definite duochromish look to the glitter. (Edit) - on close inspection the glitter is red and gold and when each flashes, the mix gives it a duo illusion. Also, it is a JELLY! :)

It's a unique color to my collection, and I do love to wear it with red outfits. I put this on as I was leaving the door on Sunday to take off for a week of fun at Lake of the Ozarks :)

Milani 581: Lavender

Since I can never leave a creme polish alone these days, you know I had to add some bling to my Nails Inc Thames. I added Milani Lavender 581. This is a perfect nail polish to top over gray. I love the combination of the two colors.

It's truly Blingtastic!

I can't stop staring at my nails lol. I took this picture outside so you can see how they look in the sun :)

Nails Inc: The Thames

First, Thank you to everyone that left comments about my lost cat. I really appreciate it. It was very sweet of everyone to do so.

I finally got to do my nails, yippeee. It's been awhile so it was rough going lol. I have been really wanting to try this polish so badly, and I'm sorry I waited this long. This polish is amazing. It is so smooth and it went on so easy. It was also really easy to clean up. I love it.

The color is really nice too. In bright light it is a lighter gray color and it dark light it gets deeper gray. It's a gorgeous color. Don't look too close at my coloring skills - it's been awhile and I was rusty lol.

I leave for vacation in 4 days and I'm really not sure what to use yet. Soon as I figure it out I will post it here.

Lost in Outerspace :(

Sorry about my long absence. The most horrible of all horrible things has happened, and it kept me away from my blog.

My Sweet beloved cat of 5 years, Maddie, went missing :( I let her outside like I usually do (afternoon time), and she never showed back up again. I am absolutely devastated about it. I spent weeks posting missing signs with a reward, I spread flyers to all my neighbors, I visited every vet in a 30 mile radius with flyers, and even ran lost ads in my local papers. I live out in the country and I think something got her in the woods :(( My heart is totally broken about it. I have cried so much, I can not even put it into words. I miss her so much.

It was a pretty traumatic thing for me. It kept me away from blogging. I went threw a really hard time.  It's taken me a bit, but I'm wanting to blog again.

I'm going away on vacation soon and I will be polishing my nails for that trip. I will post all my vaycay nails here! I also got a few beauty products I want to review as well.  Sorry to all my followers that have wondered where I was.

Thanks for staying! Stay tuned for some real blog posts :)
